If you only saw the mainstream media's coverage of the G8 summit, you'll no doubt still be wondering what exactly went on. After all, it's not in the interests of the millionaires who own the news networks to let everyone know just how successful Wednesday's blockades were in holding up the summit. Luckily, our own alternative media can fill us in on what everyone else was doing to stop the G8. Try these for starters:

GAP meeting - Monday 18th July - SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Tonight's GAP meeting will take place in a private location, as the Pearce Institute is closed for Fair Monday. New members still very welcome, phone 07952 969 102 for directions to this week's meeting place.
As we hope to open a social centre in the near future, our regular meeting place may change very soon.
We meet every Monday, 7 – 9pm, Pearce Insitute, Govan Rd, Glasgow. (Just across from Govan underground station).
All who agree with our vision statement are welcome at our meetings:

Over the last few weeks Positive Action in Housing has needed to find homes for
several refugees who have been evicted or who have unstable living situations.
They would like people to get in touch if you have a spare room in your house

McLibel: Two Worlds Collide - Thursday 28th July
McDonald’s loved using the UK libel laws to suppress criticism and force major media organisations to apologise. Then they sued gardener Helen Steel and postman Dave Morris. In the longest trial in UK legal history, the “McLibel Two” represented themselves against McDonald’s £10 million legal team. Filmed over several years by renowned director Franny Armstrong, McLibel is not about hamburgers, instead it highlights the importance of freedom of speech and the David and Goliath story of two people who refused to say sorry.

Witness Appeal
Stewart Mabut was arrested in the Mayday Kelvingrove park arrests of 3
demonstrators.
He is up for trial in September and has no internet access.
Stewart needs witnesses to come forward who saw him being arrested.

Support G8 Prisoners
Around 354 people were arrested during last week's anti-G8 actions in Scotland. A July 2005 Prisoners Support Group has been formed to help those still in custody or awaiting court appearances .
There are lots of things you can do to support these people who were arrested acting to make the world a better place.
