http://www.nukewatch.org.uk/video2.php

Award winning video activist collective Camcorder Guerillas will be
launching their new film about Nukewatch in November 2007.

This film is a must see for all people concerned about nuclear weapons
and their transportation around the UK. Make sure people in your area
get the chance to see this important film. Order a copy now for £10

your area.

Get in touch if you want to know more. If you would like a speaker to
come along to the screening that could be arranged. We would need you to

New Housing Co-operative for Glasgow - ongoing

Would you like to become involved in a new Housing Co-operative in Glasgow?

We are looking for people to help start a housing and community project with the aim to co-create a communal living place and also to provide spaces and create situations for a wide-range of cultural and political events.

We are an open collective based on mutual aid and trust who would like to hear from people who are interested in making a colourful and welcoming home.

As we wish to help shape our communities and contribute to social and environmental change, we also envisage the opening of a space that acts as a neighbourhood hub. This might involve facilitating a self-organised community centre, a not-for-profit café and bookshop, the setting up of studios for local artists, workshops for workers’ co-operatives, office space for campaign groups, producing a vegetable garden, and so on.

Horizontalism: Voices of Popular Power in Argentina.

"The social movements that exploded in Argentina that December not only transformed the fabric of Argentine society but also highlighted the possibility of a genuinely democratic alternative to global capital."

Author event - reading and discussion.

Sunday 7th October
6.30 - 8.30
Quaker Meeting House
38 Elmbank Cres
(opposite Charing Cross Station)
Glasgow
G2 4PS

Free entry - all welcome.
Marina Sitrin will be reading from her book,
Horizontalism: Voices of Popular Power in Argentina.
published by AK Press.

December 2001 marked the beginning of a popular rebellion in Argentina. After IMF policies led to economic meltdown millions of Argentineans poured into the streets to protest the freezing of their bank accounts, the devaluing of their currency and the bankruptcy of their state. This rebellion - of workers and the unemployed, of the middle class and the recently declassed - erupted without leadership or hierarchy. Political parties and newly emerged élites had no role in the movement that toppled five consecutive national governments in just two weeks. The social movements that exploded in Argentina that December not only transformed the fabric of Argentine society but also highlighted the possibility of a genuinely democratic alternative to global capital.
Horizontalism: Voices of Popular Power in Argentina is the story of those movements, as told by the men and women who are building them. Come and hear from the people who created the neighbourhood assemblies involving tens of thousands of active participants, who occupied the hundreds of factories run directly by workers.

Another world is possible!

We are inviting groups and individuals from a wide range of public
interest organisations to join in the blockade and to use the
opportunity to raise awareness of the issues that each group is
working on and to make the links between its core issues and how the
UK's nuclear weapons system affects them.

SOLIDARITY

Make Lying History! Campaign - ongoing

A Glasgow activist is currently struggling with a libel action against Glasgow's Evening Times. The Evening Times published personal details and a photo of him in their "G Hate" article during the 2005 G8 summit.

To enable him to go to the next stage at the Court of Session in Edinburgh, we need to help him raise about £20,000. Please take a look at the link and help in any way you can.

HOUSING

Should you wish to contact us for more information, please feel free to email:

PLEASE LET US KNOW ABOUT EVENTS HAPPENING IN AND AROUND GLASGOW SO THAT WE CAN INCLUDE THEM NEXT WEEK.

Preferred format is a short summary, with practical details of when and where, and a link to a web page for more detail. If you do not have a web site of your own, the excellent http://scotland.indymedia.org/ allows anyone to easily create a page letting others know what you have been, or are up to.

Send that to glasgowautonomyupdates@lists.riseup.net before Monday for inclusion in the following week.
