City Strolls - events - meetings

Tuesday, May 10, 2005

Welcome to this week's Glasgow Autonomy Update.

Our featured event this week is the Culture Day from Glasgow Autonomous Project, taking place on Saturday 11th June at the Pearce Institute in Govan. The day is specially planned to include people of all ages, and most of the workshops will be suitable for adults and kids alike. Come and try workshops on belly dancing and glass walking, make your own musical instrument, watch our selection of films or join in one of the discussions.

More on http://www.citystrolls.com/z-f-page/culture-ad.htmSecondly, some people have emailed asking about the 3 folk arrested at Mayday this year. We're happy to say they're now all out on bail, although two are facing court cases for breach of the peace and resisting arrest. More info on Mayday (and lots of pictures!) at

Thanks for reading, see you next week!

====================================================

PLEASE LET US KNOW ABOUT EVENTS HAPPENING IN AND AROUND GLASGOW SO THAT WE CAN INCLUDE THEM NEXT WEEK.

Preferred format is a short summary, with practical details of when and where, and a link to a web page for more detail. If you do not have a web site of your own, the excellent http://scotland.indymedia.org/ allows anyone to easily create a page letting others know what you have been, or are up to.

Send that to glasgowautonomyupdates@lists.riseup.net before Sunday for inclusion in the following week.

We strive for a sustainable society where all people are free to live their lives as they see fit without fear of oppression, persecution or marginalization insofar as this does not prevent others from doing the same. We see this fulfilled thru a society built upon principles of co-operation, solidarity, mutual-aid, direct democracy and freedom of association.

We are currently in the process of creating a social centre.

A place to have a cup of tea in a friendly, non commercial space, read a book or magazine and find out about stuff that's going on in the city, the country and the rest of the world.

A meeting place for wayward souls.

A resource centre for groups fighting for autonomy, freedom, solidarity, equality, sustainability, mutual aid and peace against poverty, war and oppression.

If you would like to contribute to the project financially please note the following details. We are looking for one-off donations but especially standing orders.

Sort Code: 11 47 21
