Welcome to another Glasgow Autonomy Update.
As another week goes by, it's great to see more people using the social centre. As well as our drop-in, we now host meetings of a local tenant's association, the IWW (radical union) and a women's health group. Plans are afoot for a Food Not Bombs cafe and a community newsletter. The George's X Chalkboard social centre is now open Friday-Tuesday, 2pm-7pm. We would love to open seven days for longer hours, so if you can give time to do a shift, come to one of our organising meetings or drop in and get involved. Alternatively, you can support us by setting up a standing order donation (see bottom of this email). We have funds to keep the centre open for a while, but ultimately we'll depend on support and fundraising.

GAP meeting - Monday 17th October
We hold weekly meetings in our social centre, the Georges Cross Chalkboard, at 7pm on Mondays. Everything to do with how the centre is run is decided at the Monday meeting.

Faslane Peace Camp recently celebrated its 23rd year of direct action to oppose the Trident nuclear submarines stationed 30 miles north of Glasgow. Visitors are always welcome, for a day, a week, or longer!
Directions: Train from Glasgow Queen Street or 216 bus from Jamaica Street to Helensburgh Central. Then catch the 316 bus to the peace camp.

Radical women's health group - Sunday 16th October
We are an informal group who meet once a fortnight. We discuss topics and learn skills to do with women's health. All women are welcome and the group is trans-friendly. We aim to be mum-friendly, and group members will take turns to entertain younger kids.
This session's topic is periods - *biological hows and whys* - * social/political issues around menstruation * - * our own individual feelings about periods * - * learn about/make alternatives to shop bought pads and tampons *

First Aid Training for Activists - Friday 11th - Sunday 13th November
Would you know how to help someone if…
They collapsed at a demo?
They were hit by a police baton?
They were suffering from the cold on a protest site?
….would you like to know?
This training is being organised by the UK Action Medics, who provided first aid care throughout this year’s G8 protests. We are a voluntary group who work without a leadership structure.
