Welcome to another Glasgow Autonomy Update
This week we are delighted to say that Glasgow's last G8 prisoner has been released from Barlinnie.To celebrate, and raise more money for the G8 legal fund, why not go along to the After 8 party this Saturday? (More info in the "Post G8" section).
Work continues on the new GAP social centre - now named the Georges Cross Chalkboard. The name was chosen because we want the centre to be a resource where everyone who visits can have a say. Although not open to the public yet, the centre now has a temporary phone number- 07814 303 157 - our landline will be connected by the end of the month. And of course new people are still welcome at our Monday meetings.

P.S. We're currently looking for house plants for the Chalkboard - if you have any easily cared for plants which do well in low light, we could give them a good home!

GAP meeting - Monday 29th August
We hold weekly meetings in our social centre, the Georges Cross Chalkboard, at 7pm on Mondays. Everything to do with how the centre is run is decided at the Monday meeting.

Help a homeless asylum seeker: appeal from Positive Action in Housing
Over the last few weeks Positive Action in Housing has needed to find homes for
several refugees who have been evicted or who have unstable living situations.
They would like people to get in touch if you have a spare room in your house
and would like to welcome a refugee into your home.

Ubu in the Park - Sunday 28th August
Theatre Modo and Glasgow Autonomous Project bring a smash hit from the Edinburgh Fringe to a Glasgow urban space.
First performed in 1896, this messed up Macbeth so scandalised Paris that riots halted performances. Theatre Modo's new adaptation drags its messy mayhem into the 21st century to turn a scathing glare on the modern world.
7.30pm, Kelvingrove Park, at (or near) the Bandstand.

Faslane Peace Camp needs visitors!
Faslane Peace Camp recently celebrated its 23rd year of direct action to oppose the Trident nuclear submarines stationed 30 miles north of Glasgow. Visitors are always welcome, for a day, a week, or longer!
Directions: Train from Glasgow Queen Street or 216 bus from Jamaica Street to Helensburgh Central. Then catch the 316 bus to the peace camp.

JAM74 have a team of riders taking part in the 50 mile Pedal for Scotland Cycle from Edinburgh to Glasgow next Sunday. Stewart Mabut was arrested in the Mayday Kelvingrove park arrests of 3
demonstrators.
He is up for trial in September and has no internet access.
