For the return of the Vucaj family to Glasgow
PLEASE SUPPORT POSITIVE ACTION IN HOUSING’S CALL TODAY – THURSDAY 6 OCTOBER - FOR THE RETURN OF THE VUCAJ FAMILY TO GLASGOW AND WRITE TO THE FIRST MINISTER URGENT
We intend to meet with the first minister tomorrow – see below - and let him speak to Saida who is desperate to speak to him to ask him to let them back so that she and her brothers and mother can pursue their education at Drumchapel high secondary school and Anniesland college.
Saida is now three weeks and one day away from her school. She says she feels ‘kidnapped’ and just wants to come home. If you feel strongly about the Vucaj family and others like them please take this action now to help return the vucaj family to Scotland . We are constantly told that asylum is reserved, but all we are asking is that first minister recognises the wrongs done to the vucaj family and the need for the children to return to their education - as he was once a teacher himself - and use his power of influence to make representations to home secretary Charles Clarke to grant entry to the vucaj family on compassionate grounds, which Charles Clarke has the power to do. Some people ask why we don’t go direct to Charles Clarke, home secretary. We say fine, but let jack McConnell as first minister also speak up for scotland and go direct to Charles Clarke and ask him to return the vucaj family to scotland on compassionate grounds - which the home secretary has the power to do - ad in the spirit of the fresh talent initiative – which the first minister has been promoting all along.
Please read the various statements below and then email your personal message right now to the first minister at firstminister@scotland.gsi.gov.uk and copy your message to robina@paih.org .
