City Strolls - events - meetings

Wednesday, December 14, 2005

Welcome to another Glasgow Autonomous update 14 DEC

Were you involved in this year's May Day street party? Did you witness a man being arrested? If so, you might be able to help him be found "not guilty" in court next week. Check our Court Support section to find out how you can help Stuart Mabbut, the only one of the "May Day 3" still to be facing charges.Elsewhere, this weekend brings two more chances to show solidarity with refugees, including a special festive season demo at Brand St Immigration Centre.

And finally, everyone is welcome to the Chalkboard on Friday for a free screening of The Take - the true story of some Argentinian workers "firing the boss" and running things for themselves!

The George's X Chalkboard social centre is now open 2pm-7pm, Wednesday to Sunday. We're trying to open seven days for longer hours, so if you can give time to do a shift, come to one of our organising meetings or drop in and get involved. Alternatively, you can support us by setting up a standing order donation (see bottom of this email). We have funds to keep the centre open for a while, but ultimately we'll depend on support and fundraising.

Have a good week!

arguments against all migration controls (often ignored or opposed by
other groups).

amount but need help to do this from someone keen to help co-ordinate
growing for next year.

Anyone who is interested, and thinks they'd like to live in a busy,
sometimes chaotic community, but fun too, is welcome to visit and stay
to see what they think. Talamh is home to 10 adults, 4 children,
visitors, 4 dogs, a cat, and chickens. It's a member of Radical Routes,

COURT SUPPORT

---

Stuart Mabbut (May Day protest) *WITNESS APPEAL* - before Thursday 22nd December

Stewart was one of 3 arrested as the unofficial 2005 May Day Demo entered the Kelvingrove Park. His arrest was random, as he was standing witnessing what was happening, it had nothing to do with his actions, and his demeanour was no different from the others gathered, or those who ‘doubled back’ to check what was happening.

So far there are no witnesses to his arrest.

It is CRUCIAL that some witnesses are found quickly. Stuart's livelihood may be at risk if there is an adverse outcome from the trial. We need people to show their solidarity and be pro-active to jog people’s memories & come forward.

Phone or text Stewart on 07986601674

---

Brand Street activists - Monday 16th January

Three people were arrested after the gates at Brand Street Immigration Centre were padlocked shut and barricaded at a direct action. They spent 30 hours in police custody, and were eventually bailed. Please try to support them on this next court date.
